The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel now says that FIVE Columbus police officers shot and killed the homeless Black man well outside the RNC security perimeter. Columbus Police say the shooting took place within the officers' assigned "operational zone."

Psst: Project 2025 is terrifying for a lot of reasons but also because on page 5 it calls for teachers and librarians who grant access to books that are maligned as pornography (which just means anything LGBTQ) to be registered as sex offenders. Pass it on.

Every time I say this, I'm gonna repost this excellent thread on practical things regular folks can do! Winning is possible, but no one said it would be easy. So: do something to help.

I've volunteered for political campaigns for literally 40 years. And one thing that's always helped when things look bleak is the knowledge that there is ALWAYS something practical you can do to help make things better -- whether through electoral politics or other kinds of service. For example...

WaPo, NPR and FTFNYT immediately issue statement: "We stand by our reporting otherwise, and remind the general public that we are ELITE JOURMANALISTS and not a pack of stenographic suckers."

All the calls for “everyone” to “cool down the rhetoric” etc feel like how families so often put the burden of keeping the peace on the family members who are already working hardest at that, since the difficult/abusive folks are unfixable/cannot be reasoned with.

Yes, requests for non-fascists to "lower the temperature" is just a nicer way of putting the Heritage Foundation's statement that the revolution will remain bloodless if liberals allow it. It's a demand for acquiescence to the conditions of violence they created.

Seen a lot of comments like “hey Americans who support democracy, oppose political violence, and value truth, we have to take the temperature down,” and while well-intentioned, I don’t think it’ll work, because they’re not the ones raising the temperature.
