Wasn’t it just a couple of years ago that all the doctors said it was medical malpractice to diagnose Trump without examining him privately and in person?
hoo boy gonna be a big fucking thumbs' down from me on LGM publishing breathless speculation about biden having parkinson's based on the speculation of doctors who know good and goddamned well that they can't and shouldn't try to diagnose people who aren't their patients through the fucking tv

Fascists want you to roll over and not exercise your rights. And one of those rights is to vote. Use it, protect it, fight for it.
So voting is better than *not* voting when it comes to getting what you want? Huh.

The far right cope machine is already trying to manufacture a narrative about the massive loss the French fascists faced today. They are scared they can sense what’s coming to America and it’s not fascism. Popular fronts win and scare fascists. Keep them on the back foot they are weak and scared.

Russia's losses are staggering. Likely over 400k now. More casualties than US in all post-WWII wars combined, and more than USSR/Russia in all post-WWII, pre-Ukraine conflicts combined. They can't do this forever. They say they can, trying to get Ukraine and the West to fold. But they really can't.

The best way to stop a weekend of gun violence is to build more housing security, food security, public education, healthcare, & job programs 20 years ago. The second best way is to build more of those civic programs today.
17 Killed, Over 80 Wounded In Shootings During July 4th Weekend, Police Sayblockclubchicago.org At least four mass shootings took place in Chicago since July 4th, including one that killed an 8-year-old boy and two women in Greater Grand Crossing.

The authoritarian right has power in America only because the majority of Americans didn't care enough to pay attention, let alone vote. The French saw the danger and stood against it.
Fight against daunting odds, because it’s the right thing to do, and because sometimes you win.

i think i unlocked something i’m not kidding
a dead giveaway that project 2025 was written specifically for—and with input from—trump:

I can believe it, and maybe I'm wrong about why that's happening, but I'm pretty sure that it's heavily because every single major media platform is totally controlled by an Arthur Jensen type who's completely in the bag for authoritarianism
still can't believe the sensible center spent 9 months saying 'don't criticize biden over gaza or the bad orange man wins' and now they're all trying to trick him into going to the Theatre of Pompey they still love what's happening in gaza, of course

ngl sure is a weird history reversal that the UK chose July 4 of all days to throw off the yolk of their entitled and incompetent government, and over in the US the NYT and supreme court have spent the past week deciding that presidents are kings and voting is bad actually

Not the most terrifying thing but perhaps the most infuriating: every single thing we said about these fascist Republican fucks has been proved out and all the people who assured us that what is happening would never happen smoothly pivoted to yes it's happening but it will be fine.

Another reason to read past headlines: I detail — briefly, in an easy-to-read fashion — how Republicans spent decades gunning for dictator-levels of power for a GOP president. Receipts! I got 'em. www.salon.com/2024/07/03/g...
Republican glee over "immunity" decision shows they don't fear Donald Trump — they desire a dictatorwww.salon.com Trump has threatened to have people killed, and GOP politicians aren't bothered in the slightest

SCOTUS is vacationing with donors. Merchan shouldn’t have think twice and sentence Trump and remand him to custody immediately. They’re not going to do shit.

I am so tired of the already elected saying that things hinge on the next election. Do more now and run on it. If I was president the day I learned that crimes were legal for me I might act on that knowledge and get the Supreme Court in line.

I feel this so deeply that the feeling has dug itself to China
Just at the most basic level it is really unhealthy to have to thought about Donald Trump as much as everyone in America has over the last nine or so years. Spending a decade of my life thinking about a super boring, super shitty crook and all the bad stuff he's doing or might do. It's embarrassing.

Friendly reminder that Ronald Reagan was called senile so often it became a running gag on SNL and the late night shows. He then won 49 of 50 states in the 1984 election.

NYT: Joe should quit, he stutters Philly Inquirer: Trump is a fucking criminal what the fuck are we doing here
God Bless Paul Davies and the @PhillyInquirer: "The only person who should withdraw from the race is Trump...There was only one person at the debate who does not deserve to be running for president. The sooner Trump exits the stage, the better off the country will be."
To serve his country, Donald Trump should leave the race | Editorial Boardwww.inquirer.com Biden had a horrible night Thursday. But the debate about the debate is misplaced. The only person who should withdraw from the race is Trump.

If voting and elections weren't important, billionaires wouldn't bother paying tens of millions of dollars to run ads to win them

I'm hoping we don't have the earth-salting anti-southern problem here on Bluesky like we did at the other place but I'm glad this post is here as a sign for me to tap
We have to boil our tap water before we use it for several days at a time, several times a year, minimally. If this is news to you, it’s time to start paying closer attention to how conservative politics are entrenched and spreading. We are not “red” - we are voter suppressed.

this is EVERY conservative dodge on EVERY vile thing they do. they nitpick on process, on decorum, as a way of distracting from the horrors they're doing/ saying they try to shift the debate to be about secret recording, or the name of the gun, or the terminology of their fascism

Yo hey dudes! This right here 👇
fwiw, it's also the same basic dynamic as all those dads for whom "being a good dad" is this one giant performance of guns to protect their family (or prepping or whatever) but mundane systematic tasks like loading the dishwasher or getting kids ready for school is beneath them

From reading the article, there’s a ton of “yay for police!” to get through before the information that the city deployed social workers who referred troubled kids and their families to Social Services instead of putting them in the system.

There being (in violation of the US constitution!) no expellation of insurrection participants after 2020 virtually guarantees that Republicans in the House will block certification if Biden wins reelection. They are basically promising it.
