I'm sad today, which may be related to terrible news of various kinds or related to the fact that I am almost out of my food in a household where we won't have money to shop until next week, so I've barely eaten anything. Kids and spouse have plenty of food. Mostly things I physically cannot eat.

Relevant to that NYT piece that's going around...if your vote didn't still matter, they wouldn't be trying everything to convince you it was worthless.

He voted in both 2020 and 2022.

I'm just going to say this again: We *all* have to eat what the majority chooses. Is it poison? Is it shit? Not voting is a vote for the majority. Write-ins that say "nobody" or "mickey mouse" are the same as not voting. VOTE. Vote like lives depend on it. Because they do.

I characterized the last two elections as an unavoidable choice between a turd and a stick of rat poison. You can either choose horrible death by rat poison, or inevitable (but treatable) dysentery via feces. Everyone eats what the majority chooses. No abstentions. This one feels the same.

It's hot and raining today and humid as the devil's taint out there. I need to destroy some things to cope with news and I'm going to have to find something indoors to do instead of furious angry landscaping.

Drowning my worries in furious gardening today since the weather is cooperating for once. Lots of weeding, some of which requires chopping out rootballs with the weeding knife and pruners. Very cathartic. I'm grateful my body's up to it. A year ago, five, seven, it wasn't an option.

The amount of denial I’m seeing today…look, we can agree that Biden is the best option of the two before us without pretending that he did a good job last night. We all saw what we saw.

I also think Biden over-prepared. I think his team wanted to show off his acuity by having him memorize a bunch of numbers, but that shit's bad for his stutter and he always takes pains to correct himself when he misspeaks, which makes him seem less-there than Trump, who never backtracks.
