If you paid attention to Trump's side of the debate, he had the same underlying problem Biden did, where over and over he would start a sentence and realize he couldn't say or remember the words that would come next, but where Biden stalled out, Trump just switched to blurting something unrelated
Donald Trump has good days and bad days but increasingly only bad days. He's lost it - he can't focus and his brains are leaking out his ears, but the press is very impressed with him because HE CAN STILL SHOUT

If the (highly legitimate)question is “do we want a president with a functional brain” then let’s have that debate. we might want to apply scrutiny to both candidate equally, and not grade one in particular on a MASSIVE curve
I mean, I know this is useless to say almost but if Biden were retweeting right now a meme grown out of a violent conspiracy theory movement that says Republicans and Hollywood are running a satanic pedophile cult, he’d be immediately forced out but it’s Trump so media & politicos are all 🤷‍♂️

I have no idea the best path re Biden but I do know a solid week straight of “Biden Old” and “Rich Dems Worried” above-the-fold stories are *obscene* in the face of SCOTUS using the Constitution to wipe their asses purely in the service of reinstating a felon rapist as president. Crazy-making shit.

Just like none of the bold investigators backfilling Joe Biden's feeble debate performance with punchy anonymous quotes have ever figured out why Trump was rushed to Walter Reed, claimed he wanted a spur-of-the-moment weekend checkup, and a year later declared that he had NOT had a series of strokes
"Executive Time" fell out of the coverage of Donald Trump in the most incredible way. Nobody writing about his quest to become president again ever mentions the fact that he hated the job when he had it and he couldn't and wouldn't really do it!

Legitimately the best way to actually end this is for Biden to openly mock and troll the NYT and the horse race focus in general
Biden should just refuse to allow the NYT to attend WH press briefings going forward & release a statement that its because they cannot be trusted. One President already undermined them to half the country. The next one doing it will finish them off. Sulz wants to play this game, they should oblige

In fact, if you take Trump's word for it, he's clearly the weakest executive this country has ever had, with now-countless examples of "stupid" and "terrible" people doing things on his authority that he had "no idea" were happening and "completely disagreed" with.
If Trump knows nothing about Project 2025 he's way more out of it than Biden. (Trump is lying but he is, in fact, way more out of it than Biden, who may be in fact be too out of it to be president).

like, there’s a reason trump just ad-libs everything and degenerates into long-winded rants and grievances in literally every speech, he can’t follow the teleprompter, we all watched this for four years, of all the stupid discourses, this is one of the stupidest

The fact that I know more about Joe Biden’s one bad debate night than I do about Donald Trump’s years of raping and sexually assaulting girls within Jeffrey Epstein’s child sex trafficking ring shows exactly what is terribly wrong with today’s political mainstream media.

There is also every reason to think that this court will expand Trump v. U.S in his second term to extend immunity to those doing his bidding. I.e., “Our holding in Trump v. U.S. demands that government officials be able to enact the will of the executive without fear of criminal proceedings.”

Honestly still in shock that the most crooked American President in history said "I need immunity" and the GOP Supreme Court said "well, it's nowhere in the constitution, but sure, why not? Whats the worst that could happen?"

i was just going to make a post about this. if trump decides you are an enemy of the state or a “threat to national security” and has you deported, citizenship or not, there’s nothing you can do to get home. he has full legal power to render you stateless.
Related, if trump is summarily deporting citizens under his new mass deportation regime, citizenship and an ability to appeal to the law isn’t going to get people back in the country. The executive runs border security

I don’t think it’s an exaggeration at all to say the decision threatens the Republic. I might not have said so in 2015, before I saw how triumphantly lawless and autocratic the President could be, and how so many people would applaud it or at least shrug.
My friend and colleague Ken White has written a great thread describing some (but far from all) of the enormous problems with today's decision by Chief Justice Roberts granting Donald Trump criminal immunity on grounds never before accepted by any court. Today's decision threatens the Republic.

The media wants Trump to win, the same as they did in 2016
In 2016, Hillary Clinton gave a speech in Wisconsin about the importance of the Supreme Court. She warned that 2016 was "make or break" for the court—and the country. National media—focused on her emails and Trump's antics—barely covered the speech. www.thenation.com/article/arch...
Hillary Clinton Just Delivered the Strongest Speech of Her Campaign—and the Media Barely Noticedwww.thenation.com Nothing sums up the high-drama, low-substance nature of 2016 race coverage more than the underplaying of a serious speech about the Supreme Court.
